Book Moments: Colorful Entertainment…

If some of you recall, the last book I read on courtesans nearly bored me to death with all the geographical details and timelines. Since that last review, I’ve been receiving a few courtesan novels to help convince me that these were actually fun ladies (really?)…

One of these books that I’m currently reading (courtesy of my good friend Arleigh at Historical-fiction.com:) is ‘In The Company of The Courtesan’.

So far, I’m totally entertained by this book. And- there’s a plus to this one…it’s based in Venice (that's another reason why Arleigh thought I'd like it)!! I’ll have plenty to rave about in my upcoming review on this one.

'Allo! Finding your blog great, I've favorited it, knew you from Carmi. Love the black and white! I am writing a book currently but it is nowhere near published. I'll tell you if it ever gets there...

Glad you are enjoying this one! I'll have to try it out myself one of these days!

Her other book, The Birth of Venus, is also a great read. I talked a lady into buying it at the bookstore last week ;)

Well I almost picked it up today. I also want to get her new one when it comes out. But with my luck here, who knows when I'll get it...

Lucy: I'm looking forward to your review. Will you answer a question that's maybe dumb but on my mind about this? Is a courtesan a high-class...um...prostitute? Or is she something more like a mistress? Seems like the first one but I hope you'll fill us in. Inquiring minds want to know.

Love, Sallymandy

I enjoyed this book very much. Perhaps it wasn't quite as good as Sarah Dunant's other books but it was entertaining. I'll look forward to your review.

Did you love this? I just read it recently! Can't wait to hear what you thought about it. Loved Birth of Venus even more. She's a great writer!
Hope you're well.

I really enjoyed Dunant's book. It wasn't always easy being a courtesan. Look forward to your thoughts.

Hi Lucy,
loving your blog! You guessed right that I would enjoy it.
I will be interested what you think about this Dunant's book. I read her The Birth of Venus and quite frankly I was disappointed but I also own this one and her new Sacred Hearts and I am hoping that they are better.
Now I'm off to check out you Plaidy blog.
