Napoleon’s Favourite Hang Out Place...

Winding cobblestone streets and a back road lane transformed by a colourful mish mash of cozy tete a tete tables where lovers dine and and sip their wine near merchants selling their fruit- a very bubbly and happening place this short winding street.  This is where by pure chance I stumbled upon the back way entrance to the very famous “ Le Procope”.

This happens to be the cafe where Napoleon used to hang out! At the very entrance there’s even his hat! The story has it that during his ‘poor’ days, Napoleon pawned his hat to be able to pay his bill.

This is more than a charming place- it’s filled with history.  The whole place is decorated with memorabilia of the times and photos cover the walls. There is a lovely room upstairs where Napoleon and his political crowd gathered for discussions, good wine and great food.

Disappointed that we had already had lunch (cause apparently the place serves the finest French delicacies), hubby and I settled for their renowned coffee and sorbet (apparently still the same recipe!!) – delicious:) The staff was also extremely kind to us (seems like all of Paris was enthralled with our Quebec accent;) Anyway, they let us roam the place and take some photos. I think I had the best time in Paris right in this very place where Nappy himself enjoyed himself most.  Memorable. Honestly, I think I felt his presence more here than Malmaison!

Missing Paris...

Probably sounds strange that after almost three months of being back from a week long trip to Paris...I finally get to write a bit about it now. I’ve been hanging onto the lovely memories and the amazing things I saw and now I finally have some time to blog about it:)
We pretty much got up early every morning-map in hand- and off we went scouring through Paris and its surroundings. Amongst other things, I got to see Versailles- The private rooms (I took a Conference tour which was detailed to the max! And I loved every minute). Marie Antoinette’s Trianon was a dream (conference for that too).
Le Louvre was immense and non-ending (just like I remembered it). I revelled at my favourite works of art as my VERY patient husband was the perfect touring partner-if it weren’t for him I would have gotten lost most of the time!
And what about Josephine...Yes! I did visit Malmaison and loved the town as well. I ended that day with a special walk to la Petite Malmaison. I must admit that I was very welcomed by the Count himself who is now the owner of Josephine’s prior estate. A refreshing tea was served and a description of Josephine’s roses and the nurseries that she tended to was very informative.
We saw so much! I’ll be posting photos as I go along. Today I just wanted to give you a bit of a taste of what I enjoyed.

 

Back in Gear...Making Art!

Hello everyone!  I'm back and am ready to post again some of my art.  Actually I also wanted to announce my NEW ETSY SHOP!  (check it out on my sidebar!!!)

 

Since I love history and all that is historical and royal, I named my shop:  Royal Artsy Creations...the Subtitle in French: L'Altesse et La Vedette (which roughly translates to : the Royal, or Highness, Majesty- take your pick-  and the Star.  This is pretty reflective of all that I love to draw and paint- so we'll see!

My new banner is actually one of the paintings I am selling. It's a Parisian girl with backdrop setting of a palace and all that's French- Marie Antoinette included. It was inspred by a recent trip, hubby and I took to
Paris. Hope you like it;)

I'm really excited about this. The idea kicked off last Monday, when I had my first art exhibit at the Montreal Law Firm: Heenan Blaikey.  I'm pleased to say that I have had 3 paintings commissioned there! But, when asked where I displayed my art..and if I had a site...that's when I realized I had better open up an Etsy Shop.  I can't believe how easy that was.  So now I have my own art place:)  Pretty neat.  Come visit me!
