Teaser Tuesday

Today I’ll try Teaser Tuesdays- I got convinced by reading Marie’s wonderful blog, The Burton Review

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by Should be Reading:
♦Grab your current read. Let the book fall open to a random page.
♦Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
♦You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendatons if they like the teaser you’ve given!
♦Please avoid spoilers!

From: Louis XIV by Vincent Cronin

Page 51
‘Louis watched the meeting of his two cousins with special interest for he knew, as all the Court knew, that the KingMademoiselle really wanted to marry was the King of France. As a girl of eleven she had taken Louisn out of his cradle, dandled him and called him “my little husband”; Anne had said, “You’ll be my daughter-in-law.”

So far, I love this book which reads more like a novel than a history book.

Here’s a teaser from another book I’m reading : Nefertiti, by Michelle Moran

Page 176

‘We both looked at Amunotep in his dazzling chariot, racing Nefertiti and his trained Nubian guards. The shouts of joy could be heard over the snorting of horses and the pounding of hooves, and the sounds carried high above the walls of the Arena.’

I was half way through this excellent book when suddenly it disappeared…It had been secretly borrowed by my cousin who decided to take it with her to Florida…ugh! No worry, I love her dearly- she got back this weekend and the book was safely returned:) Now I can finally finish it!

I just love Michelle Moran's books. Both Nefertiti and The Heretic Queen are amazing. Great teasers. My teaser is here

What a great idea! I am a big fan of Moran's books too. I will have to check out Cronin. Not familiar with him.

I loved Nefertiti... really need to pick up The Heretic Queen. I remember the part that you posted.

I guess I should do teaser Tuesday, but only you and I (and the others in the Plaidy group) would understand why I find a certain sentence so funny. It is one of those by George III!

Ok, my teaser is up too! Too much fun not to play. Haven't read your 2 book's authors. So many books, so... many piles!
Thanks for sharing this idea!
Happy Tuesday Ms. Lucy.

What a great idea. I love the notion of let it fall open at any page. I do that with books I've read...sometimes I end up reading them again. Love to you, Ms Lucy <3

Hello dear Ms. Lucy!
The Nefertiti book sounds wonderful!
I've done this teaser before and had to pick up the book nearest to me and turn to a certain page - It was 'The Confessions' by Jean Jacques Rousseau. Hope you've been well. It's nice to be back and visiting with everyone again!

Ms. Lucy -
I didn't realize I was supposed to join in on the fun until I visited Kirsten's site and re-read the rules - closer this time. So here I am to play along.

"At the end of 'The Swan' I leaned over the plush rim of the box as far as I could and flung the roses, by now rather tired, over the footlights. With feelings divided between ecstasy and shame, I watched my heroine step forward from among the lavish and expensive baskets overflowing with rare hothouse flowers, to rescue my wilting rustic offering."

from Ballet by Cecil Beaton

I'm confused. People followed along on Kirsten's site. Too much vacation.
