Some accept only former active-duty veterans, while others accept all who were in the military whether active duty or reserve. These nurses or social workers have access to the patient's personal and medical records and also have the list of attending physicians that the patients need. However, if their relative is already in a facility it is up to them to determine whether their loved one is being subjected to abuse. Are they thinking about adding to the program or offering continued education opportunities for the nursing staff? The highest nurse in the nursing food chain is the nurse practitioner, sometimes called NP.
