Historical Flavours of the Month...

It's been awhile since I've posted any Historical Flavours. I guess I've been completely consumed by my reading, research and art, that not much has been left over for history posting.  But I can't say I left my passion for French Kings on the back burner for too long...

I got just the right boost from reading the amazing  novel, Louis The well Beloved, by Jean Plaidy. This helped get my historical juices going.  So soon enough, I got a whole slew of Historical Flavours to fill my quota!

Here are some of the ladies that captured Louis's, hmmm, heart:

Duchesse de Ventadour,

Marie Victoire, Comtesse de Toulouse

 Infanta Mariana of Spain

 Marie Leszczyńska

Louise Julie de Mailly,
 Pauline Felicite de Mailly,
 Marianne de Mailly,
Duchesse de Charteroux,

Jeanne Antoinette Poisson: Madame de Pompadour

WOAH!

Some of you may have already read my post back at Plaidy's Royal Intrigue- run by Arleigh and I- But for those of you who haven't, and would like to read up on these fancy (and not so fancy..) ladies that filled Louis XV's life, please see here.

That Louis guy was one busy man, lol! I'm certainly going over to read about those ladies.

I feel sorry for his wife, Queen Marie Leszczyńska...what a humiliation for her and similar queens to have their husbands be better known for their mistresses!

Thanks for your comments- I so appreciate your reading my stuff:)

Matterhorn, I'm with you all the way on this..so true. But at least history gives her some highlight through the birth of all those children..and even those were taken from her at an early age; so that she couldn't even be an important figure in their lives. Yep, I really feel sorry for her too. Thanks:)
