A few days ago I visited my local used bookstore to see what treasures I may find. Can you believe I found a 1926 hardcover "MEMOIRS OF MADAME VIGEE-LE-BRUN"?!! The cover is in pretty good condition, but the inside has been immaculately well preserved. What a precious find to add to my collection. Here's a picture of the paperback version. (Mine doesn't look like this at all- it's a faded Royal Blue, with the title up on the far left).

Wonderful! I'm glad you found this.
Wow! Have you ever tried library sales...I always clean up at those things! Nice find!
I know, it's great!I'm like a little kid when I find books like these. I haven't gone to a library sale in awhile. But seeing that spring is almost here, I'm sure they'll be cleaning up shop soon;)
Indeed, a treasure!! You know, I ordered the paperback version a few days ago, so now I'm really excited, so I certainly understand you :))
One thing that annoys me: I've always read it VIGÉE Lebrun, so it's quite disturbing that it's not written like that on the cover...
Oh Ninon, that's wonderful! Let me know if you want us to read it together.
On the one I've got, her name is written : VIGEE-LE-BRUN on the front cover- and on the inside it's: VIGÉE-LE BRUN. (but I do know that sometimes in French we don't use accents on capital letters- but then again that's usually for the first letter of a word...
You are lucky to have found it. I hope the translation is accurate. Please write a post after you've read it. I can hardly wait.
I will definitely post my review after having savoured it thoroughly. Thanks, Ingrid.
I can't wait to read your review! I may just have to buy this!
