You're welcome Hummingbird! You're usually the one with the amzing photos!

The one million dollar question...too long for a comment...but in short- Napoleon was a great conqueror, an incredible force; but not without heart, compassion and love- that being said, there are a few things that could have been done differently.

I just saw a beautiful museum exhibit of items belonging to Napoleon when I was in Paris in September.
Please- do you have a recommendation for another book about Josephine?
Thank you!

Hi Maija- You're so lucky to have been there!

I've read mostly history books on the revolution, Josephine, and Bonaparte. Almost all of them, though, were in French. this is where I've gotten most of my research info. On a lghter note, I paricularly liked: Lettres d'amour a Josephine (the Letters of Napoleon to Josephine) - beautiful.

(Old)Napoleon and Josephine an Improbable Marriage by Evangeline Bruce - it was ok

I will, very soon, give Carolly Erickson a try but after reading Sandra Gulland's Trilogy...it will be difficult for any other fictional novel to compare.
Here's site that has several books on Josephine, that you might be interested in: http://www.royalty.nu/Europe/France/Bonaparte/Josephine.html
Thanks so much for your interest!

David J. Markham's books are REALLY good. His Napoleon for Dummies gives you all these interesting tidbits in sections. I am not really familiar with the military history so it helped me get a good grasp of the man behind the legend. And then there are tons of juicy bits about his relationship with Josephine.

I just can't wait for that interview! I've read bits and pieces of the Napoleon for Dummies and it is interesting, you're right. I will check out more of his books though.
