What a beautiful story- and idea! Mary Lou Quinlan talks about how she discovered a bunch of little boxes that her mother stored away secretly throughout her lifetime. These contained years of accumulated bits of papers with prayers written on them. Her mom wrote prayers for everyone she knew; short- almost on-the-run little notes that she carefully folded into minute bitsies and put in these ‘God boxes’. The ‘letting go to God to take care of things’- experience in itself is what is also amazing about the whole process.
Mary Lou learned about her mother’s strengths, care, love and ultimate faith through this legacy her mom left behind for her. Beautifully written, I loved reading this book. Inspiring and refreshing, this idea to leave it upto God by physically writing out prayers and releasing them into the God Box for Him to take care of sounds so... relieving.
This is such a great idea- and it’s catching on fast. (See the author’s website for more info )
I really recommend you getting this book. You can go download the first chapter HERE.

Just a sidenote- and not really related to this post but…just something I wanted to mention in passing. I am just loving this Kindle I got from my kids for Christmas; downloading and reading in just seconds is the way to go for this busy person…I never thought I’d get used to the idea- me who loves the feel and look of a good book. But to say the truth, I still do prefer the real thing. So in essence the e-reader is there for me only as a fast, lightweight, pragmatic, fill-her-up reading tool. It’s also an easy way to ‘delete’ books that are just not doing it for me.Completely practical - but I won't give up the precious hard copies any time soon though; this is just another reading addition:)

This is very touching! It is always hard to learn to leave one's worries in God's hands :)
This is so touching and beautiful. I must share this with all my friends, as this is perfect mother's day gift!
Am glad to hear your feelings about the Kindle. I'm still toying with the idea of getting one and for a writer I think it's a must. But always good to hear another's point of view. Hope you're well dear!

Lucy,
Thank you so much for your lovely comments about "The God Box." I especially love that you included them on a site that is so women-centric! My own company is called Just Ask a Woman and I have devoted my career to listening to women, so this site just thrilled me. Now I get to focus on the woman who meant the most to me, my Mom. I really appreciate that you shared this witn your readers and hope you will stay in touch! My best wishes to you, Mary Lou Quinlan
