Georgette Heyer is Visiting Today...

Today is Enchanted By Josephine's day to host the The Classic's Circuit for the Georgette Heyer Event!
Thanks for stopping by:)

Here is my Review of BEAUVALLET, by Georgette Heyer

Sir Nicholas Beauvallet is my hero! A dashing pirate who saves the life of his heroine Donna Dominica and her father to return them to their homeland- how could I possibly resist such gallantry, courage, strenth and charm?
Heyer outdid herself once again with this fantastic novel filled with history, intrigue, excitement…and yes, this one too is filled with incomparable wittiness. And- the dialogue is superb!
Surprisingly, being more used to her regency novels, I was thrilled that this one takes place during the reign of Elizabeth I and the Spanish Armada. I absolutely loved the history and detail, let alone that the characters completely came to life. The story captivated me from the very beginning with that first scene involving Don Juan himself.
This book is reminiscent of a time when heroes were heroes and damsels were breathtaking not only physically but even more so due to their clever and gustsy ways.  I reveled in the times, and the historical accuracy for me was more than a treat.  Delightful from beginning to end, BEAUVALLET has become my number one Heyer read- so much so, that I plan on re-eading this one for sure.  It’s truly a classic.
Fantastic!

'Beginning Monday March 1, 2010, Georgette Heyer will be going on a virtual tour of the blogosphere. Check out these participating blogswhere you’ll find reviews of a number her works, as well as general information posts about this classic author.

ALSO:  This one is also perfect for the ABC in History Challenge over at Historical Tapestry for the Letter:

The more I learn about Georgette Heyer and the breadth of her subject matter, the more blown away I am. I've been reading her mysteries lately, and I've read some of her regencies, and I'm about to start her book about Waterloo, but I didn't know she wrote books about Elizabethan times as well. I hadn't heard about this one, but it sounds like perfect escape fiction :)

Great post! Your enthusiasm is infectious. I read a book from her Regency period and wasn't all that impressed, but you have definitely caused me to consider reading more of her works!

(BTW, beautiful blog!!)

Good review. It is amazing that after so many years, she is making a come back - her books have been reissued as a group and there is a blog tour.

I didn't know she had written novels set in the Elizabethan Age. Incredible Heyer! After Venetia, I want to read this one. Perfect for next summer! Thanks, Ms Lucy.

I need this one since it's set in the time of Elizabeth I...right on! Thanks for the great review Lucy. Heyer knows how to bring the laughs and create such dashing men that you want to jump through the page!

As of today, it seems like your post is the most enthusiatic one for Heyer and the Classics Circuit! Maybe because you have read several already and it seems like others (myself included)are first-time readers of Heyer. It'll be interesting to see what everyone thinks of her as the Circuit continues this month.

I haven't read this one, but I am participating in the Classics Tour, and I really enjoyed the book that I read!

I am thinking about using a Heyer for my H post for the ABC challenge too!
